I'm not having any trouble doing the problems for Analysis of Algorithms, but they are taking longer than they should. I'm just a bit rusty at spotting the patterns to simplify logarithms and polynomials. So, flashcards it is. I made up a bunch of them. I think I'll do the same for some of the more mundane stuff in Programming Languages (just because it's dull doesn't mean it won't be on a test).
You'd like to think that PhD work would be all super deep thoughts and big ideas. To some extent that's true, but you can't go there without a huge base of facts. And, at least in my experience, the best way to cram facts into your brain is flash cards.
